"St. Augustine" is an uncomfortable but very human look at love. It is love enough to know that love isn't always what we want. Nite Teacher's folk-and-acoustic single considers the difficult task of letting go of preconceived notions of what a lasting relationship should look like while exploring the many ways love can manifest.
It's a song about the struggle of letting go versus holding on. Deep love often wants to keep things the same, but "St. Augustine" explores the idea that true care can sometimes mean finding the courage to let someone else go. Nite Teacher's release is produced by and features San Fermin's Allen Tate, bringing another creative mind to the track.
The song is about emotional reflection and the softening of change, not fighting it, in an acoustic folk setting. "St. Augustine" doesn't reduce love to a simple story of staying together or breaking up. This is about the emotional labor of facing the fact that relationships can change in ways we don't anticipate.
The song's main theme is that love can come in unexpected ways, and it takes strength to understand. This view gives "St. Augustine" its meditative character. Nite Teacher distills a complex understanding of love into an intimate folk rumination on attachment, acceptance, change, and the courage it takes to let go of expectations.
