Ondrej Markwartitz Nierostek's new single, "country road," recalls that open scenes give a different sort of silence, a silence in which it is easier to think thoughts that are hard to think elsewhere. The song suggests that the open road is more than just a physical place.

The journey is an interior passage, the movement through the countryside a readiness to let go of grand ambitions and move toward an unknown future. There's no sense of urgency to that. The track's simplicity supports the peaceful reflection within it. There is no grand narrative in "country road," and emotionally, the heart of the piece is about moving and thinking, about moving forward as a quieter way of dealing with uncertainty.

Ondřej Markwartitz Nierostek's song connects to the open-road tradition of country and singer/songwriter music while remaining personal in its inward exploration. "country road" is about the importance of slowing down, of shedding burdensome expectations, and of letting the next journey come into view.
